Buck Richards-60s-80s---Co-owner of the diner, Susan’s father, widowed. Buck is crusty and often paranoid.
Darla Malinowski, 30s-40s—waitress, major comedic figure—whimsical and sometimes outrageous
Randy Oliver, 30s-40s—Darla’s boyfriend, a hunky blue-collar worker
Chris Camello, 30s-50s—township supervisor. A weak man who is ultimately drawn toward corruption.
Lara Martinez, 19—waitress, an immigrant who is struggling to learn English and make a better life.
Oswaldo Martinez, 19—cook and busboy, Lara’s twin brother. He also is an immigrant and works hard, along with his sister, to send money back to help their family in Mexico.
Jillian Hobbs, 18---Susan’s daughter, high school senior. Smart, friendly and driven.
Jason Ludwig, 18—Jill’s friend, high school senior. In love with Jill. A smart guy who’s a slacker.
Todd Herring—30s-50s, land developer, the villain in the show. Rude, manipulative and totally self-centered.
Reese Herring—30s-50s, land developer. Todd’s younger brother. Also a major comedic figure. Reese is bumbling and lovable.
Rachel O’Brien, 17--high school senior, friend of Jill’s who is very sensitive.
Carrie French, 18--high school senior, friend who is somewhat superficial and self-absorbed.
Bo Williams, 17--high school senior, friend who is a solid guy—athletic and no-nonsense.
Kristine Yankovskya, 18--high school senior, friend who immigrated from the Ukraine as a child.
